Timesheet compliance
Who has time they have not submitted, how far back it goes, and how quickly weeks are decided.
The question it answers: is the time data we are billing from actually complete?
Two halves, and they are different problems with different owners:
- Unsubmitted time is with the person who did the work.
- Undecided time is with their approver.
Chasing the wrong half is the usual mistake. If weeks are sitting undecided, chasing the people who submitted them changes nothing.
How far back it goes
The age of the oldest unsubmitted week matters more than the count. Somebody four weeks behind is unlikely to remember what they did in week one.
Common questions
Does this affect invoices? Yes. Unsubmitted time is not billable time yet, so Work in progress understates by whatever is sitting here.
